All about our process with your #typewriter #platen . If you bring your typewriter to us for platen work, this is how we do it. If you need your platen recovered, send it to J.J. Short in New York. Sometime we even send them strange and odd sizes that we do not stock.
From musicians to screen writers — story writers to novelists: everybody who writes has reason to use a typewriter.
We are writers and authors – and like you – love to use typewriters in our writing process. As time has gone by there has been a need in our community for a full service shop for manual typewriters. So here we are reconditioning, resurrecting, and everything else in-between to keep our beloved typewriters clicking and clacking away. Whatever your machine may need, we can do it.
Our shop and showroom are located in the historic district of Riverside California. We usually have over 50 Muse Certified machines ready for you to take home or we can ship your machine to you.
We are available by appointment only. Our bespoke services are tailored to your needs. Our 30 minute appointment allows us to focus on you and your machines without interruption. You are welcome to visit us in person or virtually. Give us a call to book your appointment and arrange your visit.
A Note on Anonymity: We have many friends and customers in many industries whose names are well known. We understand the need for personalized service that respects your privacy with the upmost discretion. We are interested in your machine, not your career. We can use an alias in the service of your machine, do not share your information unless you wish us to and we have a very strict non-disclosure policy.
From ribbon replacements to full resurrections: we do that. Most machines today have not been typed on in 20 years. They need wet chemical cleaning, tuning, lubrication, new rubber and some good ole’ tender loving care to get them typing again for you. Our full service shop can do all of that and usually in just a few short weeks.
Our shop rate is $70.00 an hour plus parts and materials. We will give you a free estimate while you wait at your appointment when you drop your machines off for service.
We are available most weekends and some weeknights, but only by appointment.

Typewriter Expert services on set for film production. If you have a scene or several scenes that require typewriters, we can do that. From rentals to hand models, we have you covered.
Speaking services. If you are in need of a talk about typewriters, Bob can do that. From community, private or public events to in-the-classroom, we have a topic on typewriters for you.
